Our Fleet: Cruising

The CCIA Cruising Club is for all CCIA Fleet members – those with boats or those with friends with boats, be they day sailors or cruisers. If you like the water, come join us.

The aim of the CCIA Cruising Club is to assist in organizing boating events that are varied and have broad appeal. Some events will appeal to those who enjoy cruising to harbors some distance away, while others to those who like picnics on local islands or visits to museums or other venues where small open boats can participate easily along with the larger yachts.

With regard to the Cruises, we try to select destinations that offer good picturesque anchorages with some nearby onshore distractions and accommodations. This enables families who are larger than their boats, as well as those with day boats, or no boat at all, to participate in some of the cruises. Some will be at less accessible harbors and coves.

While we have organized dinners on shore, the norm has been for all the boats to gam for drinks and dinner before breaking off for a quiet night alone.

Some past and future destinations are Tenants Harbor, Sabasco, the Basin, Pulpits Harbor, Broad Cove, Carvers Harbor, Clark Island, Harmon Harbor, Carver’s Harbor, Cundy’s Harbor, Orr Island, Bailey’s Island, Winter Harbor and Long Cove. These cruises have all been highlights of the summer.

Day trips to Louds Island, Damariscove Island, and Pleasant Cove or up the Sassanova river to the Maine Maritime Museum have been past favorites for picnics, early dinners, or sightseeing visits. We are adding Harmon Harbor this year.
