Sailing: Racing Instructions

1:RULES


1.1: The series will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.


1.2: The CC21 Class Rules will apply to the CC21 Class.



2: NOTICE TO COMPETITORS


Will be posted on the official notice board located at the CCIA on the Fleet notice board under the eastern porch



3: CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS


Any change in the sailing instructions will be posted before 10am on the day it will take effect, except that any changes to the schedule of races will be posted by 5pm the Friday before it will take effect.



4: SIGNALS MADE ASHORE


4.1: signals made ashore will be displayed from the public dock on the race committee boat’s staff


4.2: When the AP is displayed ashore, ‘1 minute’ is replaced with ‘not less than 30 minutes’ in the race signal AP.



5: SCHEDULE OF RACES


5.1: Dates of racing: will be found on the CCIA calender


5.2: Number of Races


Two races will be sailed each day of the series at the discretion of the race committee


5.3: The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first class of the first race of each day is 12:30pm



6: CLASS FLAGS


Class flags will be a CCIA burgee for the CC21 class and a pillow case with the skull and cross bones on it for the Viking class.



7: RACING AREAS


Attachment #1 shows the location of the racing area.



8: THE COURSES


The courses are described in Attachment #2 by using letters for each mark and the color of the letter on the display board delineating the side to leave that mark of the course.



9: MARKS


9.1: The list of the marks of the course and their positions can be found on Attachment #1.


9.4: The start finish line is between the R/C staff on the race committee boat and the orange ball shown as A on the course board and the color of that A showing the side to leave this orange mark.



10: AREA THAT ARE OBSTRUCTIONS


The fallowing areas are designated as obstructions: the area to the south of Inner Heron Island and all areas between islands running the east side of the thread of life. These areas are shown in Attachment #2



11: THE START


11.1: Races will be started by using rule 26 with the warning signal made 10 minutes before the starting signal


11.2: The starting line will be between a staff displaying an R/C flag and an organge mark at the other end of the line.


11.3: Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall acoid the starting area during the starting sequence for other races.



13: FINISH LINE


The finishing line will be between the R/C staff on the race committee boat and a nearby mark shown as the last letter on the course board and shown by color what side to leave said mark on.



14: PENALTY SYSTEM


For the CC21 class and the Viking classes rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.



15: TIME LIMITS


15.2: Boats failing to finish within 30 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish without a hearing. This changes rules 35, A4 and A5.



16: PROTEST AND REQUEST FOR REDRESS


16.2: The protest time limit is 20 minutes after the race committee reaches the dock.



17: SCORING SYSTEM


17.1: The scoring system is as fallows:


17.2: 1 race will constitute a series for an individual month and 2 races will constitute a series for the summer.


17.3: Two throw outs are allowed for the summer series and one for each month series. If the number of races total 4 or more for the month long series and 8 or more for the summer series.



18: SAFTY REGULATIONS


18.1: To check in before the first race of the day each yacht shall sail on starboard passed the committee boat thank them for coming out and helping and then state their own sail number. To check out at the end of the day each boat is strongly suggested to thank the committee again.


18.2: A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible.



19: DISCLAMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
